Description

This striking sturdy fire bowl is handmade in rural Monmouthshire from high-grade 3mm British steel. A perfect focal point for outdoor entertaining, it includes a detachable swing arm cooking rack and a practical built-in log store to keep your firewood within easy reach.

The swinging BBQ rack lets you move food toward or away from the embers so it’s easier to barbecue without burning. The shelf also serves as a handy spot to keep cooked food warm.

There’s also an optional table top lid to fit this fire bowl (sold separately). Once the fire is out and the bowl has cooled, you can cover the fire bowl to keep the ash bed dry and transform it into a handy garden table.

We love this company’s backstory. Tim was looking for a fire pit to entertain his son and schoolfriends in the garden (so the adults could seek refuge indoors). He couldn’t find one he liked, so he made one. Friends started asking to borrow it, and before long he was getting commissions from people wanting their own.

Since then, the company has grown to a sizeable team of skilled local craftspeople. Their fire pits have been exhibited at the Chelsea Flower Show and Malvern Spring Festival - as well as starring in Cold Feet, Fleabag and Game of Thrones!

Using your fire bowl

Only use well-seasoned dry wood to reduce smoke. You can also use charcoal (but not house coal). Make a fire with plenty of logs and burn for at least ½ hour before you want to use it (the first ½ hour of burning produces the most smoke).

Ideally, leave an hour before cooking to allow embers to form. You can separate the bigger logs to one side so that you can keep the fire ticking over while you cook over the embers. If you’re in a hurry to cook, add charcoal to the fire once it’s going and move the bigger logs to one side.

The barbecue swing arm is not designed to be left over intense flames for long periods, so only move it over the embers once you’re ready to cook.

After you’ve finished cooking remove the rack, load more logs and enjoy the warmth of the fire.

Caring for your fire bowl

Your fire pit is designed to stay out in all weathers but will develop an even rusty patina. This will not affect its use or longevity but if you like, you can clean it up with a wire brush then rub over a coating of oil or WD40.

A lid will protect the bowl and keep the base of ash and burnt wood dry for use next time. It also works as a snuffer to safely extinguish the fire and a table top when not in use.

If you don’t have a lid, clean out your fire bowl after use and make sure the raised disc in the bottom of the bowl is clear of ash to stop rainwater collecting.

Warning:
For outdoor use only. Keep children and pets away from the fire bowl when lit. Always position away from buildings or combustible objects on a safe, level, non-flammable surface. Only for use with logs or charcoal. Never leave a lit fire pit unattended or move when lit. Allow to cool before emptying any ash.

Please note: these are handmade from sheet steel which has naturally occurring blemishes, so there may be slight variations in the forging and finish. The fire bowl will begin to rust immediately and will not maintain its black finish. However, this will not affect its long-term durability.
