Revel in delicate shades and divine fragrance with this trio of climbing sweet peas in softly hued pastels. This pretty collection contains average to fast-growing cultivars bearing scented blooms in white, shell pink, and lavender perfect for cut flower displays.

What's included:

In this pretty, pastel collection of spectacular sweet peas, you will receive one packet of approximately 20 seeds of each of the following cultivars (approximately 60 seeds in total).

  • Lathyrus odoratus 'Mrs Bernard Jones': An RHS AGM award winning sweet pea, this show-quality cultivar produces larger than average scented flowers on long stems, making them excellent for cutting. The colour of the petals is very pretty too, fading from near-cerise to a soft shell pink. Grows to 1.8m.

  • Lathyrus odoratus 'Dorothy Eckford': An enduring old-fashioned cultivar first introduced in 1903, this popular climbing annual has medium-sized, white flowers with a wonderful fragrance. 'Dorothy Eckford’ requires a wigwam, an obelisk, sweet pea netting, or a similar supportive framework to scramble up. Grows to 1.9m.

  • Lathyrus odoratus 'Leamington': Sweetly scented, lavender blooms that make super cut flowers appear throughout the summer on this gorgeous sweet pea. A favourite for the cottage garden, they will also thrive in pots, where they will quickly scramble up an obelisk or tipi of bamboo canes. Grows to 1.8m.

How to care for Strongly-scented sweet pea collection:

Gradually harden off the seedlings before planting them out into well-prepared soil, enriched with lots of well-rotted organic matter. Pinch out the growing tips of the young plants as they grow to encourage bushier growth, and provide support for the stems. Apply a balanced liquid plant food every two weeks while in growth. Removing the faded flowers before they set seed will encourage even more to form - which makes them perfect for adding to vases or posies.

Sowing instructions:

From October to late February, sow seeds into deep pots or root trainers filled with good-quality seed compost and place them in a cold frame. Then, after the worst frosts have passed, the seedlings can either be planted out or potted up for the patio. Alternatively, direct sowings can be made in October, or March to April.
