My Loropetalum has contributed to the front door step for a period of four years. It receives many compliments from visitors. When the weather turns, I bring it into the lobby where it continues to draw admiring glances over the winter. It appears to have two flowering periods with three or four pink tassels appearing now in Sept/Oct following some bouts of rain. It has a dormant less attractive period in late winter but soon refreshes itself in readiness for spring. It is now about 40-50cm tall.

We ensured everything was right for this plant in a pot and it was happy for a few months then turned up its toes and died. I have a professional gardener from a horticultural college who comes once a month and he couldn't understand why it died either. Maybe its too delicate? I would like to try again but feel I may waste my money.

This plant not as big as you might wanted - but - what a show! It has very dark leaves and non-stop flowering habit make it a long time show peace.Best use for it - attractive plant pot - not to small - so you can put it on display for so long and visitors would definitely admire and make comments and conversations about it.But - watch out! - they might make it even smaller because which gardener does not want to take cutting from this little beauty?

I was given this plant as a gift in March 2017. It's supposed to flower in the Spring but mine's still in bloom as we head into November. It didn't enjoy full sun during the Summer but recovered well. Beautiful flowers and pretty foliage.

If it will end up 2M x2m we might eventually try planting it (or cuttings) in a large pot in the ground. But will give it a Summer in the beds to see. It looks great. A dark mauve colour. No big deal to cover it in fleece for the winter I guess while young.

Hello, These plants prefer a soil with a neutral to slightly acidic pH, so if your soil is very alkaline, then it would be happiest growing in a pot with ericaceous compost.
