Description

Hand-built in Monmouthshire from durable 5mm-thick British steel, this generous fire pit is a showstopper of a centrepiece. Ideal for setting the stage for outdoor gatherings from lively celebrations to cosy drinks.

The large flat ring of logs is the perfect height to sit round and allows plenty of people to bask in the warm cosy crackle of the flames.

It comes with a large swing arm BBQ rack, ideal for cooking for a crowd. The shelf surface makes a handy warming area for cooked food. Built-in storage underneath keeps a ready supply of dry logs to hand when you need them.

We also stock an optional lid for this bowl (sold separately). When the fire is out and the bowl has cooled, you can cover it to keep the ash bed dry and turn it into a useful garden table.

Using your fire pit

Only use well-seasoned dry wood to reduce smoke. You can also use charcoal (but not house coal). Make a fire with plenty of logs and burn for at least ½ hour before you want to use it (the first ½ hour of burning produces the most smoke).

Ideally, leave an hour before cooking to allow embers to form. You can separate the bigger logs to one side so that you can keep the fire ticking over while you cook over the embers. If you’re in a hurry to cook, add charcoal to the fire once it’s going and move the bigger logs to one side.

The barbecue swing arm is not designed to be left over intense flames for long periods, so only move it over the embers once you’re ready to cook.

After you’ve finished cooking remove the rack, load more logs and enjoy the warmth of the fire.

Caring for your fire pit

Your fire pit is designed to stay out in all weathers but will develop an even rusty patina. This will not affect its use or longevity but if you like, you can clean it up with a wire brush then rub over a coating of oil or WD40.

A lid will protect the bowl and keep the base of ash and burnt wood dry for use next time. It also works as a snuffer to safely extinguish the fire and a table top when not in use.

If you don’t have a lid, clean out your fire pit after use and make sure the raised disc in the bottom of the bowl is clear of ash to stop rainwater collecting.

Warning:
For outdoor use only. Keep children and pets away from the fire pit when lit. Always position away from buildings or combustible objects on a safe, level, non-flammable surface. If using on a paved patio, place on additional protective paving stones made from solid natural stone or concrete at least 5cm thick. This will avoid possible discolouration and cracking of your patio, as some mock slabs may be susceptible to heat damage. Rust from the bowl may also mark stone surfaces. Only for use with logs or charcoal. Never leave a lit fire pit unattended or move when lit. Allow to cool before emptying any ash.

Please note: these are handmade from sheet steel which has naturally occurring blemishes, so there may be slight variations in the forging and finish. The fire pit will begin to rust immediately and will not maintain its black finish. However, this will not affect its long-term durability.
