The big rounded heads of the hydrangea look great when paired with the tapering spires that the veronicastrum provides. The white on white colouring is also a classic - and will look stylish in most settings.

What's included:

In this collection you will receive three of each of the following plants. The Veronicastrum are supplied in 9cm nursery pots, while the Hydrangeas are supplied in 1.5-litre pots:

  • Veronicastrum virginicum 'Album': Slender spires of white flowers from July to August above whorls of deep green leaves. This elegant perennial has self-supporting flowers, making it ideal for adding height to a sunny or partially shady border. It looks fabulous when planted with prairie plants or for adding vertical interest to white borders. Best grown in fertile, moist, well-drained soil. Grows to 1.8m.

  • Hydrangea arborescens 'Annabelle': One of the loveliest hydrangeas, this has huge globes of tightly packed, creamy white bracts that look like giant snowballs in late summer. As autumn progresses, the flowerheads fade to pale lime and the dark green, pointed leaves turn soft yellow. It has an upright habit and makes a breathtaking feature in a wide, partly shady border, particularly when planted in groups or with other hydrangeas. The flowerheads are a popular choice for dried flower arrangements. Grows to 2.5m.

Planting tips:

Prepare the bed well by digging in lots of composted organic matter before you plant. For best results it is essential that the plants are kept well watered for the first year, particularly during warmer weather.

The plants in this collection will die right back in autumn, then fresh new growth will appear again in spring.
