  • Position: full sun or partial shade
  • Soil: moderately fertile, well-drained, humus-rich soil
  • Rate of growth: slow-growing
  • Flowering period: April to October
  • Hardiness: fully hardy

This is a rare beauty, which we got very excited about when we stumbled across it on a buying trip. It is very similar to 'Eternal Fragrance' but this wonderful semi-evergreen woodlander has pink-flushed flowers. These appear on new wood, so will often keep on coming from spring to autumn. Like its namesake, the flowers are highly scented, so plant it near a pathway, patio or entrance if you can.

  • Garden care: Keep pruning to a minimum since the plant is very susceptible to die-back. Where necessary after flowering lightly trim back to remove misplaced branches and maintain a compact habit.

  • CAUTION toxic if eaten/skin irritant

Planted this shrub in a large round container with some early flowering bulbs. very pleased to find that it flowers twice and it has a nice scent. So pleased with it that I bought one for my sister.

Beautiful evergreen bush with delicious fragrance

Of all the plants in my garden this is definitely one of my favourites. It has attractive evergreen leaves, a nice neat shape, and beautiful flowers over a long period that smell amazing. I've recommended it to lots of people!

sadly disappointed

Generally the quality and plant sizes from Crocus have been good. Customer services are excellent. However this plant has proven a great disappointment. The pot is only a one litre 5". The plant size was tiny. Less than 2" in height and not even the diameter of half the pot size. It was purchased as a gift, and has proven to be an embarrassment.Given the cost and the plant size, which on researching other suppliers is not good value. I would not recommend this for others to purchase.

neat n tidy

Hi, I planted a Daphne late September in a partially shaded corner of the garden. The leaves have drooped and are starting to lose colour. I have fed using baby bio. Is there anything I can do to save it? Thanks Clare

Hi Claire I'm sorry to hear about your Daphne. This is a lovely plant but unfortunately some Daphnes have been hit hard this winter and your doesn't sound too healthy. This Daphne does need a sheltered position with a humus-rich soil. I would give it a mulch with a well rotted organic manure, keeping the mulch away from the stem, and see how it goes. This plant is covered by our 1 year guarantee, so if it doesn't recover please do contact our customer service dept. Hope this helps.

Daphnes - capricious creatures with charisma

Daphnes need a tender touch and they are rarely, if ever, pruned. They also have an annoying habit of suddenly fading away in full glory, yet they are still worth growing, for the heady scent of their flowers are completely intoxicating. The earliest to f

Daphnes are highly scented and those that flower in late-spring and early summer are among the easiest to grow. If you haven’t grown a daphne before, opt for Daphne odora ‘Aureomarginata’. This will produce a low-growing, wide evergreen mound (roughly a
