Water vegetables

To get the best crops you need to make sure that they grow evenly which means ensuring they do not go short of water. Water thoroughly once a week applying about 20 litres per square metre rather than watering lightly more often. Some vegetables such as beans and peas need water most just as their pods start to swell, while leafy crops such as cabbages and lettuce benefit from even watering throughout their growing period. Fruiting crops such as tomatoes and courgettes will produce larger yields if kept well watered.
