Did its job splendidly

We bought this archway at least 10 years ago and although fiddly to put together, we followed the instructions to the letter and put the joint covers exactly where instructed. Despite that, we happily grew a lovely jasmine up one side and a honeysuckle up the other. It has taken 10 years for this frame to finally fail. Yes, it was put directly into the earth and this is where the rust eventually 'got it'. I'd recommend this item most happily and hope that whoever buys it will get as much pleasure from the plants it holds as we have done.

The design of this is not satisfactory,i was instructed to put the arch together then simply put into the soil.As the parts are not screwed together it all drops apart when you lift it off the ground!

How much of the 295cm is supposed to go into the ground? and so therefore how tall is the arch once in place? Thank you.

Flowerpower

Hello there The spikes are 38cm long. The arch height of 295cm, does not include the spikes. Hope this helps

Climbing roses for an arch Good Morning, Very shortly I will be installing a garden arch. I plan to plant Rosa 'Zephirine Drouhin' to climb over this arch. Would you advise planting a rose each side of the arch. Many thanks, Roger

Roger Pirrie

Hello Roger, It is possible to bend the plant over the top of the arch, but the rose will not grow all the way down the other side of the arch, so if you want the base and other side covered, then you will need two roses. Keep in mind though that this rose can grow to 3m tall, so you will need a large, sturdy arch. I hope this helps. Helen Plant Doctor

Planting climbers

The secret of success when planting a climber is to make sure that the soil is in good heart and the roots are set away from the dry conditions found at the base of a wall. After planting, I also suggest that you cover the surface of the soil with a mulch
