Buy squash (butternut) 'Harrier' F1 butternut squash / Cucurbita moschata 'Harrier' F1: British bred for the UK climate

  • Soil: fertile with additional organic matter

    British bred variety so ideally suited to our relatively short growing season. Sweet tasting medium sized fruits can be ready to harvest in just over 3 months.
    Winner of an Royal Horticultural Society, Award of Garden Merit for reliability and good performance.
    Part of the seed range produced by Mr Fothergill’s Seeds in partnership with the RHS.

  • Growing Instructions:Sow two seeds to a 10cm pot in late spring in a greenhouse or on a sunny windowsill. Pot on seedlings as they grow, then harden off carefully and plant out in a sunny, sheltered spot once all threat of frost has passed. Leave 90cm between each plant and protect from slugs. Cut the last of the fruits before the first frosts leaving some stalk attached and they will store for several months somewhere dry and cool.
