The symptoms are variable depending on what type of galls they are, but they are usually spherical or irregular knobbly swellings which can appear on any part of the plant.
Its not exactly known how galls occur, although it is thought that soil dwelling bacteria are the culprits. These bacteria enter plants through small wounds.
Although they look serious, galls aren't harmful, only unsightly.
