Set up your greenhouse

Set up your greenhouse If you intend to make early sowings or get tender plants off to an early start, set up your greenhouse in advance to check that the heater is working well and there are no gaps in the insulation. Bubble polythene is the cheapest and most effective material for insulating a greenhouse. Reduce heating costs by making the heated area as small as possible using sheets of bubble polythene to partition the greenhouse - use a double layer if you live in a particularly cold area to provide added insulation. It is worth insulating the part of the greenhouse that is not heated to reduce the amount of cold air that rushes in each time you enter the heated area. To prevent variations in temperature, a thermostatically controlled electric greenhouse heater is worth considering.
